The important thing was that I had to lose them to realize it."

Well, well, guess what. CONAN IS BACK.
This time, finally, a drama series, consisting of 13 episodes.
And having Mizobata Junpei act as Conan is everything I would dream of. Accompanying him as Mori Ran is Kutsuna Shiori, whom I have a really good impression of because of Kaseifu no Mita.
Honestly, I’m not a really huge fan of the Conan anime series, although I do certainly watch its live-action drama specials when I have the time.
What is really kick-ass about this drama is that there’s this whole thing about the main characters being stuck in this white room, with Shinichi and Ran handcuffed together and Ran’s father, being extra. There’s this suspense lingering as Shinichi recalls the huge cases he has cracked overtime, with the criminal forcing them to remember each cases by cases by going back in time. From late 2010 to 2009. The pinch of romance (and flirting) in the drama was just right, not too much, not too little, with the main focus, on the case solvings.
One thing about the whole drama series that I’m very disappointed with is that, each episode is only 30 minutes long. I wish they could elaborate more on what happened and let the viewers see more of how genius Conan arrives at his one and only truth. Other than that, I find that although there’s no quantity, the quality definitely made up for the lack of screen time.
The cast’s acting, especially the main two leads was rather natural. And the romance scenes were exceptionally and unexpectedly well done, considering Junpei and Shiori are quite young.
But I’m glad that they are having yet another Drama Special coming up in April. Oh well, I think for now, the production team would stick to Shiori and Junpei for their lead roles, after all, they do make a good pair.

I just finished BOSS Season 1 and 2, and as expected, Season 2, was nothing short of my expectations. The suspense was well kept, plots were intriguing and mind-boggling, cast was flawless.
Let me first do a rough summary on this drama, for both seasons.
Osawa Eriko is a returning high-ranking police officer who just returned from the U.S. Upon reaching Japan, her best buddy, Nodate, had already planned for her to be the head of the newly set-up department in the MPD, Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Osawa Eriko isn’t the typical serious police officer you would expect, she loves M&Ms, kind of sarcastic at times, and a total slave driver, according to her group of subordinates, who all she comes to love in the end. The newly set-up department, the Crime Countermeasures Team, is apparently made up of the worst police officers from different departments, but they were actually put there so that their potential can be further brought out by FBI-trained Eriko. Kimoto Mami, the one Osawa comes to trust the most in the end, was originally from the Forensics Department, and was supposedly transferred to this department, because she never could arrive at her workplace on time. However, underneath that lazy and nonchalant façade, actually lies a brainy and highly-skilled girl that should not be trifled with. Kitagiri, was transferred, because he was an elite in the MPD, who could not shoot a gun, due to experiencing a trauma after an incident that happened several years ago. Hanagata Ippei, was a small neighbourhood patrol police, who got selected to join the Incident Response Team due to his pure and forward-looking attitude, something which many police fail to have now-a-days. Yamamura and Iwai, were also transferred due to reasons like violence, or being too absent-minded. Through solving cases and putting their lives at risk, they come to appreciate their jobs and you can see them change as a person, as well as their attitudes towards their jobs.
Next, about the cast. I would say this is a flawless cast. When I first saw the cast, I was doubtful about actually watching the whole things, as most actors and actresses in the drama were ‘strangers’ to me. But I was proved wrong by each and every one of their convincing acting skills, no matter how stupid and dumb the character looks. None of the cast is an idol (at least I don’t consider Toda Eriko as one), but mainstream actors and actresses. There is a strong chemistry in the cast as well and the acting with one another never seems too forced, but instead blends well together.
Yamamura and Iwai’s actors (Nukumizu Youichi and Kendo Kobayashi respectively) did a good job in portraying the ‘funny’ pair with the younger one constantly bullying the older one. Although Iwai was guy, the acting was not overdone, in fact, Iwai’s constant fantasies about the male characters actually fits the wacky storyline. Yamamura was the absent minded one, who cares too much about hair loss, but the characters actually becomes endearing overtime, like his panda soon becomes a normal thing in the plot.
I was really awe-struck by the chemistry between Amami Yuki and Takenouchi Yutaka, who acted Osawa Eriko and Nodate respectively. I’m really glad the scriptwriter didn’t force the two of them together as a couple, if not the show would have been a total flop. It’s lovely to see how Nodate seems to constantly pick on his girl-friend, yet at the same time, care for her. But since Amami Yuki and Yutaka’s acting are top-rated as well, their antics and sadistic conversations in the drama play an essential part in its dialogue.
I have always liked Toda Erika, for some reason. Her acting is almost there, but not exactly top-rated yet. I’m glad that she was able to act the Kimoto’s character well. Since her usual roles belong to the ‘cute’, ‘glamorous’ or ‘lady-like’ kind, when she appeared, I burst out laughing when she was too lazy to walk to the MPD building. Thank god she didn’t overdo Kimoto and her acting came to me as rather natural. It was rather disappointing when she was not in the main cast for Season 2 especially after I have grown to love Kimoto.
It was my first time watching Tamayama Tetsuji act (Katagiri in BOSS) and I must say I am rather impressed with his acting in Season 2. His character was rather boring in BOSS Season 1 as he was introverted and was a sort of rule by rule person. It was only after Episode 8 that I start to appreciate his existence in the drama more. However, I really like the way he acts when he is troubled or when it comes to the scenes when he is supposed to shoot but holds back due to his trauma. In Season 2, his character becomes more well-developed in the drama series (Kudos to the scriptwriter!) Katagiri seemed to have open up to the rest of the Crime Countermeasures Team, still being cool, but showing his perverted and shy side when it comes to having group dates or romance. Tamayama did an awesome job in switching between these emotions on screen. An actor I would love to see more from!
One actor I am really impressed with is Mizobata Junpei. This young actor never fails to surprise me with all the roles he is taking up. From Meitantei Conan to Mitsu no Aji, I have watched practically all his dramas and movies (Kimi ga Odoru, Natsu; Akai Ito) and realized that he is one of the rare actors that hardly get roles of the same personalities. In BOSS, he took the role of the mood-maker, the energetic healthy young one. I kind of shocked me because the role that he took was actually 4 years older than his actual age (o.o) but still, he did an awesome job, after all his image does fit the crazy and ego one. Although some might say that a determined and naïve role is easy to take up in dramas, I really adored Hanagata’s character and of course Junpei’s acting maybe because I had watched Shinzanmono and Mitsu no Aji before BOSS and well, the change is drastic. From a serious detective to a love obsessed person to a adorkable inexperienced young detective (again), I’d say he is a versatile actor. The person in charge of his outfits and costumes should make a change in choice of clothes for Hanagata though. I mean when you find out that Hanagata is actually 23, his fashion choice does not really match what you would expect.
For the new characters added in Season 2, which I shall not elaborate too much on. I wasn’t too impressed with their acting. Their acting simply did not have much impact as compared to the previous cast when Toda Erika was around. But I loved Narumi Riko’s acting as Kurohara Rika, her bluntness towards Yamamura as a teenager was rather epic (?)
This drama would suit anyone who is a Japanese Drama lover, a comedy and crime lover, and of course, a person who deeply loves the friendship and teamwork kinda thing. What I love about this drama is that, we get to see the bonds form amongst the people in the team amidst crime solving and tons of killing. A perfect mix between crime and comedy.
If I would rewatch this again: Definitely, someday when I have the time
Ratings? 9.6/10
Theme song? Full marks (Although the ending song didn’t really make an impact, Alright! By Superfly is darn addictive.)
Opening? 8.5/10 (Season 1) Well, with the whole cast being glam and all, there’s nothing to hate about the opening. 8.0/10 (Season 2) I preferred Season 1’s opening. I mean what’s with the throwing of people, breaking of glass on people’s heads and the most WTS moment was when there was water splashing. I mean seriously? Amami Yuki was pretty glamorous though.
Acting? 8.9/10 (Averaged out for both seasons) Thanks to the chemistry of the cast and a few outstanding actors and actresses)

R.I.P @_ridingthestorm
Sometimes, I don't know if it was the right thing to enter the fandom. If I knew this would have happened all along, I would not have.

Graces'12 ended yesterday.
Although the dinners were pretty boring, I must say the nights were fun (: Still, I hope our class can grow more bonded. I'm not saying that it's totally their fault, but I guess it's partially my fault as well D: The yukata was pretty good :D, but the dress didn't fit me as well as expected RAWR. I guess wearing feminine stuff will never suit me hoho~
Watched Boss last night too! Just so happened there was Shida Mirai in that episode. Toda Erika + Shida Mirai = KANPEKI COMBI. BOSS is really some kick-ass drama, nice cast, nice plot, great filming. Speaking of which, I should watch the latest episodes of Hungry and Lucky Seven soon~ I dropped Ending Planner like long time ago, idk why, but the plot simply does not capture me enough. The start was so-so as well.
If I were to choose the best drama of this season, it's definitely Strawberry Night. It's just RAWRSOME ^_^ The suspense and everything~
Watching too much crime dramas really changed my mind on studying medicine in university. Even though Singapore is like some boring city where nothing happens, I still feel like taking on a role of keeping the country safe. Be someone useful to the society I guess (because the who I am now, is utterly useless) Studying psychology and journalism have gradually made their way into my mind. Now, I seriously don't know which path I should take in order to secure a future for me.
Journalism sounds like real fun. I could do either entertainment/travel/food (wine and all)/photography/investigative journalism. My language and everything may not be there yet, but I do believe I have the energy and enthusiasm for this whole thing. Rather than staying cooped up in the office, I think I'd rather much go around finding out new stuff about the world.
Psychology is what I really want to do now. My mother said if I were to do psychology, I should open a clinic. But when I say I don't wanna do clinical psychology, she's like meh ._. What I want to study is forensics psychology, criminal profiling, understand the fantasies of serial murderers and realise the truth of crimes. I want to see the real world, instead of just reading things from behind the newspapers. I feel that criminals are after all, still humans. Some kill for sadistic pleasure and all sorts of weird reasons that are not reasons, but stereotyping criminals or murderers is simply just wrong, I find. Sometimes, I think we should understand that what drives these criminals also include love for family and friends, and not just simply revenge. They are just like us, we get angry, we get scared, we all want revenge at some point in our lives, but we are able to control it. Criminals are just like us, just that, they have been worn down emotionally and mentally. Maybe, I thought doing criminal profiling might help me understand people more, at the same time, understand human nature and myself.
Lastly, medicine. Honestly, nothing has really motivated me to study this subject. I have never really strongly believed in saving lives or changing lives before. But what interests me is the brain. Maybe if I really do manage to enter this course, I'll be a neurologist.
But honestly, who knows? I may end up being a bartender/sommelier/chef for all you know. HAHA. Let's just leave that for the future. For now, I'll worry about indices instead :)

Hi all again. Today is really ending in 12 minutes. So I thought I'd do something meaningful? O.O
Recently, I've been reading/watching manga and anime in school when I've free time and watching dramas on the bus. And there are a few too awesome ones I really need to introduce.
Anime/Manga:
Area no KishiThis manga was recently adapted into an anime *claps*. Although I'm not an avid fan of soccer or what-so-ever. Area no Kishi really captured my attention with the normal i-will-give-up-but-i-shall-stand-up-once-again plot, with a twist of a tragedy in it. The main character, Kakeru strives hard to carry his brother's dreams, who died in a traffic accident while trying to protect him. Sounds cliche enough? Give it a try. You won't regret it.
Taiyou no IeI really hope this manga gets an anime or something like that. A typical story about a girl who shut herself out because of her parent's attitudes towards each other. She writes her life story down and publishes it as a cellphone novel. And the hero... is kind of a weird hero, but you will grow to like him somehow (:
Drama:
Lady ~Saigo no Hanzai Profile~
This drama is so kick-ass I don't know how to describe how awesome it is. It talks about this 'profiling' group called CPS set up by the MPD to help in solving murder cases, where murderers each have their own fantasies and commit crime based on them. There isn't an over-emphasis on the profiling area, and the plot is extremely intriguing. Every episode never fails to shock or wow me with its detailed and systematic well written script.
Rate: 9/10
About the cast, I'll say it's a rather well balanced cast. First, we have Kitagawa Keiko acting as the main character. Keiko's acting skills are at least considerably good, good enough to keep me watching. Adding onto Keiko's influential presence, we have Kaname Jun. As usual this man never fails to potray his character properly. His charisma fits the murder/crime genre perfectly. The rest of the cast's acting are generally ok, given that I actually watched the whole series, eyes glued onto the screen. But I do wish they had more action and gun action in the series though.

Hi all,
Today is officially like the last day of Term One. Congratulations to those who survived it. I think all of us did.
Life's been pretty boring yes. I miss fandom and stuff but I guess it's not time to return to fandom... yet.
A levels results were released today. I wonder how HCJC did. But no matter what, we know many of our seniors did Singapore proud yeah.
ChoirToday, Choir was pretty interesting. Learnt how to sing Rapata and I give this song a thumbs up. It's soooo naise ;A; Rapatapapa.
Hmmm... Term 2's going to be starting real soon. Which means Blocks are coming up too.
I guess I could hold revision off a little longer xD
Jiayou to everyone. We can survive this.

It's officially the second last day of school.
I'm already half dead, but I guess I'll be able to pull through tomorrow.
On a brighter note, I can't wait for Arashi's Wild At Heart single, releasing on 7th March. I didn't really like it at first, but it sorts of grow on you after you watch Lucky Seven (:
Speaking of Lucky Seven, I'm really happy how all Arashi members are having an equal share of drama time *yay* this year. Jun's Getsu 9 drama slot will be taken over by Ohno's Getsu 9 drama. Yet another mystery/crime/lawyer drama. It's been long since Ohno has been a lawyer and yes, everyone wants more Naruse-sensei. And adding on to this brilliant news, Erika Toda has been announced as the leading female character. Toda's acting, I'll say is quite fine, although her range of characters mainly comprises of the innocent and naive girl, but still, I think she never fails to portray the innocence and naivety correctly according to the context of the drama. It's been long since she made a come-back, so I'm really looking forward to it (AND SPECS ASDFGJKL)
Random rant post:
I can't believe they took Toda out of Liar Game though. The nature of the character Nao has already been hated by Liar Game fans. But replacing TODA WITH TABE MIKAKO is ABSURD, BLASPHEMY. Tabe's acting still can't meet the cut. Firstly, she needs to get rid of that same face she has in every drama. Even Jiu with Meisa flawless was ruined due to her emotionless acting. RAWRRRRR.
Sho is getting this post-war drama, where he's going to be depicted as a guy without... an arm. I'm actually quite excited to see how Sho is going to portray this character. His acting skills are quite okay, but they need more work, of course.
Aiba's well... going to have a detective drama *YAY* with a fat, fluffy cat. This animal-human combination, is a first for me. How the scriptwriter and director are going to potray the cat is going to affect the viewer ratings, so I hope they do a good job. Bartender was VERY interesting, so I'm hoping to see more of Aiba goodness (:
Nino is (I think) preparing for a flim called Platinum? Not much details have been released about this, but I wish him all the best for filming. After all, I don't think there isn't a role that the actor can't act.
Jun's drama is in the midst of airing, and yes, I'm enjoying like every single Arashi fan out there is. Jun's acting is still fine, but with Matsushima Nanako, Eita and Naka Riisa. I'd say. This cast is pretty fine (:
Now, about KAT-TUN (:
Congrads guys for breaking yet another record <3 I hope you guys will continue to work hard and make music that only KAT-TUN can make. Rock and more rock. Chain was and is still awesome. Can't wait for your next album :D Hope the members get more dramas though xD Waiting for Kame's yearly drama and more appearances of Ueda, Junno, Maru (ofc) and Koki.
Can't wait for Career Conference yes. Jiayou for last day everyone!
